My first trip to the Getty Museum was not only to see the wide range of art on display but also for the buildings. The buildings themselves are works of art: 1.2 million square feet (16,000 tons) of cleft-cut, textured, fossilized travertine used inside and outside, as paving stones, in the courtyard and on the fountains. Amazing.
Everyone should be able to find something they enjoy among the variety of art exhibited (drawings, paintings, sculptures, photographs, manuscripts, furniture, decorative objects and more) or at least enjoy a walk around the grounds.
Parking is $5.00 but admission is FREE. Reservations are no longer required.
The time, money and expertise that went into making all this art available, and for free, I couldn’t imagine not visiting if you are in the area. World class.
Enjoy the photo’s…
